A logger boot is often mistaken for a lineman boot. Apparently, many people who are looking for a good pair of lineman boots usually end up buying a pair of logger boot. This is a very common situation in the market today.
By and large, a logger boot is very similar to a lineman boot. And if you are not meticulous enough, certainly, you will say that they are the same. But, for lineworkers and loggers, these boots are quite different. And the truth is, the two types of boots are two worlds far apart from each other.
Appearance and Design
The number one factor why logger boots look so similar to lineman boots is because of the overall appearance. If you take these two pairs together, you cannot largely see the difference. Apparently, the appearances and designs of both pairs of boots look naturally the same. And this is actually one of the many similarities between the two.
Primarily, they both have a long false tongue. Secondly, they both normally come in black or brown colors. And thirdly, both types of boots have the same length features.
As mentioned, if you are not meticulous enough, you won’t see the difference. Although appearance is largely a factor to the similarities between the two, there are still discrepancies in its details.
For instance, the length features of the two pairs are quite similar. But, if you look closely at the details, you will notice that logger boots have much shorter length features. In fact, the most common length that any logger would use is around 8 to 10 inches.
As for lineworkers, they are normally required to wear lineman boots that feature a total length of 12 to 16 inches.
Features and Functionality
It is important for you to note that a logger boot is largely designed for loggers and hunters. Hence, the specialization in this type of boot is mostly focused on its threading and traction. And this is because loggers utilize these boots when they are managing and handling logs and woods. So, it is only fitting that their respective footwears can essentially hold them in place when standing and rolling on woods and logs.
Other than this, there is no additional feature that is equipped with most logger boots of today. But, it is very normal today that you would come across logger boots that feature insulation and waterproofing application.
Accordingly, the two latter features are some of the primary features of a lineman boot. It is very required for lineworkers to have a pair of lineman boots that has insulation and waterproofing application. And this is because lineworkers work with live wires and energized tools. Hence, electricity is largely highlighted in their jobs and tasks. So, these features are very essential to them.
Ultimately, there are other features that you will see in a lineman boot which are not equipped in a logger boot. And these are the steel side plates, arc support, and steel toe. This is because these features are designed for climbing activities that every lineworker do on a daily basis.
